Fornaciai Art Gallery inaugurates the new season of exhibitions dedicated to modern artists. This is the first exhibition organized after the passage from the historical name of Galleria Tornabuoni to the current one.

The route opens with the exhibition Beyond the Stars by the great Italian maestro Mario Schifano (Homs, Libya 1934 – Rome, 1998). The choice appeared immediate, almost instinctive, as an internationally known artist that embodies the desire for innovation and the reinterpretation of the past, the one’s own and the historical one. These aspects, which unite it to the philosophy undertaken by the Fornaciai Art Gallery in continuity, but also in evolution, with respect to its decades-long tradition.

The exhibition offers a selection of monotypes and multiples that exemplify in an exemplary manner the themes characterizing the artistic path of Mario Schifano through the decades of his activity, from the Sixties to the Nineties: Coca Cola, TV Landscape, Television, Futurism revisited in color , Incident, Tree, diptych Victory on the sun for Kazimir Malewic, Palms and Stars, Anemic landscapes.

Already the titles themselves of the works represent a sort of anthological summa on the mixture of techniques and artistic expressions (painting, photography, cinema) addressed by Schifano in the arc of his life “splendid and turbulent”. As Mario Schifano himself said:

I have tried to work with images that everyone sees or has seen, developing them in order to bring out their essence, their germinal and primary possibilities.
